Walt Longmire's award winning series, The Longmire, is a television show that follows the story of the West Texas cattle ranching legend, Longmire. A true American story, it chronicles the life of an eccentric man who grew up on a cattle ranch in the Big Thicket. The Longmire shows the ups and downs of this eccentric man and his relationship with the people and animals of the Texas Hill Country. Longmire was originally written by Walt Longmire in 1977 and it was then picked up by the Discovery Channel and aired as a ten-part series. The series features a number of main characters such as the charming rancher, Will Bailey, his wife, Libby, and his son, Lance, who is a teenager. The series takes place in the small town of Bisbee, Texas. Will Bailey runs a ranch called the Longmire, which is named after him.
